I've been working on a little speculative project and have been fiddling with some cover ideas, and I was wondering which cover you all think looks best. It's a graphic novel set in the 40s in the classic crime/mystery genre. Any and all comments are welcome. There is a poll on the side there if you want your vote to be counted.

I'm interested in the writing! Did you co-author?

Both covers are quite nice. The image evokes that era and mystery.

I prefer the bottom one (closer cropped) because it creates more mystery. Her nose is riding close to the edge. I wonder if the tone would change if you could move her face off more to the edge? Might be neat to see if there's a difference -- maybe it'd be more mysterious. (Where is she going or what is she hiding from?)

The typeface and contrast is very nice.

The only thing that sits funny with me is the shading on her skin. It might be my monitors though. There's a hint of bruising or maybe it's a lot of light and shade. Perhaps her skin tone plays into the story.

Overall, I enjoy both versions. I think you're right on with moving the type for each image. Works nicely.

The second one, definitely. It's got better lines and movement to it. It's also just more...striking, I suppose. The first one doesn't stand out, yet still tries to pull my eyes in opposite directions (up towards the girl and down towards the title).
